Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones returns for one last adventure in new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

When it comes to cinematic heroes, Indiana Jones easily ranks amongst the all-time greats.

The legendary Harrison Ford has played the cocky archaeologist and explorer in four major films across forty years, and is now set to reprise the role for a final time in the upcoming installment Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

After the release of a teaser back in December, a new trailer has been unveiled at Star Wars Celebration.

The fifth outing of the action-adventure series sees an ageing Indy approached by a figure connected to his past that forces him into a quest to stop a former Nazi from sabotaging the Apollo Moon Landing program.

With franchise co-creator Steven Spielberg only onboard as executive producer, James Mangold (Logan, Ford v Ferrari) steps behind the camera for the Ford swansong.

On the casting front, Emmy-winning actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Solo: A Star Wars Story) heads the supporting ensemble as Indy’s goddaughter Helena alongside Antonio Banderas (The Mask of Zorro, Spy Kids trilogy), Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black Panther, The Resident), Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, The Predator), Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong, Wanted), Toby Jones (Detectorists, Marvellous), and Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Hannibal) as the film’s villain Voller.

Additionally, the sequel also welcomes a poignant return for John Rhys-Davies as Indy’s former sidekick Sallah.

The Indiana Jones series was a huge success during the 1980s, with Raiders of the Lost (1981), The Temple of Doom (1984) and The Last Crusade (1989) all making big profits and winning our appreciation in the process.

However, its most recent outing, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) was deemed a major disappointment to critics and audiences despite a solid box-office return.

Ford’s swansong as Indy will come to a head when it releases in cinemas on 30 June.
