Daisy Ridley embarks on an epic swim across the English Channel in Young Woman and the Sea trailer

The official trailer has arrived for Disney’s Young Woman and the Sea.

The factual drama stars Daisy Ridley (Star Wars series, Murder on the Orient Express) in the role of accomplished New York swimmer Trudy Ederle.

Directed by Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil), the film focuses on how Ederle overcame adversity and the animosity of a patriarchal society to rise through the ranks of the Olympic swimming team and complete the staggering achievement – a 21-mile trek from France to England.

The rest of the film’s cast includes Tilda Cobham-Hervey (Hotel Mumbai, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart), Stephen Graham (This is England series, Boiling Point), Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve, The Witcher), Christopher Eccleston (Shallow Grave, The A Word), Sian Clifford (Fleabag, Quiz), Jeanette Hain (The Reader, The Young Victoria), and Glenn Fleshler (Billions, Joker).

Following in the footsteps of last year’s swimming-based drama Nyad, Young Woman and the Sea will be released in the UK on 31 May.
