A wacky red-band trailer has premiered for Deadpool & Wolverine.
The third installment of the superhero comedy series welcomes the return of Ryan Reynolds as sweary and irresponsible protagonist Wade Wilson / Deadpool alongside Hugh Jackman, who makes an unexpected comeback to the MCU as beloved X-Men mutant James “Logan” Howlett / Wolverine; several years after the character’s death during the climax of Logan (2017).
Directed by Shawn Levy (Real Steel, Free Guy), the plot sees Wilson pulled out of his quiet life by the TVA as he sets out to save the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Wolverine.
Reynolds is joined in the ‘threequel’ by other familiar faces from the Deadpool series including Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Katsuna as Yukio, Rob Delaney as Peter, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, and Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossal.
On top of Jackman’s unexpected appearance, the film also welcomes Jennifer Garner back to the MCU as she reprises her role as assassin Elektra; almost twenty years after her previous big-screen appearances in Daredevil (2003) and Elektra (2005).
There are also a couple of high-profile additions to the series, including Golden Globe winner Emma Corrin (The Crown, Lady Chatterley’s Lover) as the film’s villain Cassandra Nova, and BAFTA and Emmy winner Matthew Macfadyen (Pride & Prejudice, Succession) as TVA agent Paradox.
Deadpool & Wolverine will arrive in UK cinemas on 26 July.
