After the release of a teaser in December, a new full-length trailer has been unveiled for the live-action Barbie film.
Directed and co-written by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird, Little Women), the wacky romantic comedy sees renowned Australian star Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street, I, Tonya) tackle the coveted role of beloved Mattel doll Barbie alongside Ryan Gosling (Drive, La La Land) as her boyfriend Ken.
The film’s plot sees Barbie get expelled from Barbieland for being a less than perfect-looking doll. As a result, she then sets off for the human world to find true happiness.
The rest of the star-studded ensemble includes musician Dua Lipa as well as actors Simu Liu (Kim’s Convenience, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Emma Mackey (Sex Education, Emily), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live, Ghostbusters), Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education, Doctor Who), Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls, Bridgerton), Connor Swindells (Sex Education, SAS Rogue Heroes), Emerald Fennell (Call the Midwife, The Crown), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty, Superstore), Issa Rae (Insecure, The Hate U Give), Michael Cera (Arrested Development, Superbad), Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats, Eurovision), Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night in Miami, Secret Invasion), Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse, tick, tick…Boom!), Rhea Perlman (Cheers, Matilda), Sharon Rooney (My Mad Fat Diary, Dumbo) and Will Ferrell (Elf, Blades of Glory).
Barbie fans will be singing “Let’s Go Party” when the film lands in UK cinemas on 21 July.
