A year since Marvel’s The Avengers ‘hammered’ the worldwide box-office, the individual films of the superhero franchise are continuing to come with Iron Man 3 set for release later this week.
However another Marvel hero is making a return as Chris Hemsworth dons the long blonde hair and giant hammer again to play Norse god Thor in the upcoming sequel Thor: The Dark World. The film’s first trailer has now been uploaded online….
Following the events of The Avengers, Thor comes back to Earth to bring love interest Jane Foster (Oscar-winner Natalie Portman) to his mythical world of Asgard but finds himself having to confront a new nemesis in the shape of Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) and his army, the Dark Elves.
Tom Hiddleston makes a welcoming return as Thor’s devious adoptive brother Loki while original actors Sir Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Stellan Skarsgård (Dr. Erik Selvig), Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis), Jaimie Alexander (Sif) and Rene Russo (Frigga) are also back on board too.
There is however, a change of direction as Game of Thrones filmmaker Alan Taylor replaces previous helmer Sir Kenneth Branagh for the follow-up.
The film is set for release on October 30th.
