Tom Hanks investigates another mystery in official trailer for Dan Brown adaptation Inferno

Ten years after making his first appearance as professor Robert Langdon in the big-screen adaptation of the acclaimed novel The Da Vinci Code (2006), Tom Hanks is back to play the role again for a third time.

The two-time Oscar winning star of Forrest Gump (1994), Saving Private Ryan (1998) and Bridge of Spies (2015) returns for the upcoming mystery thriller Inferno which is the third cinematic adaptation of Dan Brown’s hit series.

Despite mixed reviews, Da Vinci Code was a major hit at the box-office back in ’06 whilst its sequel Angels and Demons (2009) underperformed despite a better critical reception.

An official trailer has now premiered online with Hanks being joined by another lovely female companion….

Helmed once again by Oscar-winning director Ron Howard (Cinderella Man, Rush), the plot sees Robert Langdon wake up with amnesia whilst staying in Florence. He ends up investigating another mystery this time involving Dante’s classic poem Inferno which could prove crucial in preventing a global plague from taking place.

British actress Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) co-stars as doctor Sienna Brooks who accompanies Langdon in his investigation.

The film also features support from Ben Foster (Hostage, The Program), Omar Sy (The Intouchables, Jurassic World) and Irrfan Khan (Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi).

Inferno will be released in the UK on October 14th.
