The Crown explores the final days of Princess Diana’s life in Series 6: Part 1 trailer

The first official trailer has landed for the final series of The Crown.

First launched in 2016, the acclaimed historical drama from Peter Morgan is set to bow out with its sixth series on Netflix. In a change of tradition, the programme will be released in two instalments with the first batch of episodes focusing on the tragic end of Princess Diana.

The opening four episodes will cover Diana’s strained relationship with the Royal Family after her divorce from Prince Charles, as well as the events that led up to her death in 1997.

Once again, Imelda Staunton and Elizabeth Debicki reprise their key roles as HLM Queen Elizabeth II and Diana respectively alongside Jonathan Pryce as Prince Phillip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker-Bowles, Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne, Marcia Warren as the Queen Mother, James Murray as Prince Andrew, Sam Woolf as Prince Edward, Andrew Havill as Robert Fellowes, Bertie Carvel as Tony Blair, Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed and Salim Daw as the late Mohamed Al-Fayed.

The first part of The Crown’s final series will stream on Netflix from 16 November, with the remaining six episodes out on 14 December.
