Taron Egerton’s Robin Hood takes on the Sheriff of Nottingham in official trailer for Robin Hood

Over the years, the noble and heroic Robin Hood has been portrayed on the big-screen by a number of recognisable names like Errol Flynn (The Adventures of Robin Hood), Kevin Costner (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) and Russell Crowe (Robin Hood).

Admittedly, some of those outings have been pretty hit and miss but the classic character is now set for another fresh cinematic outing in the upcoming action-adventure Robin Hood. Exciting title eh?

Played this time round by Birkenhead-born actor Taron Egerton (Eddie the Eagle, Kingsman: The Golden Circle), the film has a more gritty feel to it following the release of its official trailer online.

Helmed by Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror), the recognisable plot sees Robin and his band of merry men team up to take on the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham.

The film features a number of recognisable stars including Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained, Baby Driver) as Little John, Eve Hewson (Bridge of Spies, The Knick) as Maid Marian, Jamie Doran (The Fall, Fifty Shades trilogy) as Will Scarlett, Paul Anderson (The Revenant, Peaky Blinders) and Australian comedian Tim Minchin as Friar Tuck.

Everyone’s favourite ‘bad-guy’ actor Ben Mendehlson tackles the role of the Sheriff having already portrayed villains in the likes of Animal Kingdom (2010), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) and this year’s Ready Player One.

Robin Hood will be ‘stealing from the rich and giving to the poor’ when the film is released in the UK on November 23rd.
