Ryan Reynolds stands up for himself in a virtual world alongside a bad-ass Jodie Comer in Free Guy trailer

As we approach the end of 2019, it’s safe to say that it has been one heck of a year for Jodie Comer.

The Liverpudlian actress (and long-suffering Evertonian) has seen her profile rise drastically through her memorable role as the eccentric yet deadly assassin Villanelle in the hit BBC series Killing Eve. Her reward deservedly came earlier this year when she won both a TV BAFTA AND an Emmy for her performance which led to two emotional speeches.

Jodie is now getting a chance to shine on the big-screen as she makes her Hollywood debut alongside Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Pokémon Detective Pikachu) in the upcoming action comedy Free Guy. The film’s official trailer has finally landed and provides plenty of laughs and kick-ass action.

Directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum trilogy, Stranger Things), the plot follows Guy (Reynolds), a bank teller who discovers that he’s actually an NPC inside a brutal, open world video game. Aided by original architect Molotov Girl (Jodie), Guy must try to survive the game before it goes offline.

The film’s support cast includes Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out, Good Boys), Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnorak, Jojo Rabbit) and Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street, Magic Mike).

Jodie is currently working on the third series of Killing Eve and will soon begin her involvement in the historical drama The Last Duel which is helmed by veteran British director Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator).

You can catch Liverpool’s best actress on the big-screen when Free Guy is released in the UK on 3 July 2020.
