Robert Rodriguez confirms Bruce Willis return for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

Eight years after Robert Rodriguez unveiled his comic-book thriller Sin City to well-received success, it looks as though the long-awaited prequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is finally starting to take shape.

With several new (and old) cast members confirmed for roles in the follow-up to the 2005 hit, Rodriguez has disclosed details about the film to MTV News with regards to another major addition to the cast and some information about one of the new characters.

He has revealed that Bruce Willis (Die Hard, The Expendables) will reprise his role as heroic cop John Hartigan despite the fact that the character was killed off in the original film.

“Bruce is back, so you’ll be seeing him”

Other original actors back for the prequel include Jessica Alba (Nancy), Rosario Dawson (Gail) and Mickey Rourke (Marv) while newcomer Josh Brolin takes over the role of Dwight, previously played by Clive Owen.

Rodriguez has also unveiled information about the character Johnny who is to be played by fellow newcomer Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, Looper) in the prequel.

“It’s a new character. He plays a gambler, a very cocky gambler, who comes in and tries to beat the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game. The story’s called ‘The Long, Bad Night’. He beats the wrong guy in a game and bad stuff happens to him. We’re really playing with stuff because that’s a very two-dimensional world and to see that stylisation in 3D, it’ll blow people’s minds. 3D hasn’t been used like this yet.”

Further casting news has also come to light in the past couple of days with three additional actors being added to the already-impressive ensemble.

Ray Liotta (Field of Dreams, Goodfellas), Jeremy Piven (Old School, Entourage) and British actress Juno Temple (Atonement, The Dark Knight Rises) are the latest big names to join A Dame to Kill For which will also satisfy the masses particularity with Temple’s casting!

Sin City fans will be hoping the long wait is worth it when the film is eventually released on October 4th.
