LEGO Batman meets his sidekick Robin in The LEGO Batman Movie trailer

While fans are still divided about Ben Affleck’s recent take on Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, there is one incarnation of the Caped Crusader who has fared a lot better.

Though he doesn’t have the look or physicality of the DC Comics superhero, comedian actor Will Arnett (Blades of Glory, Arrested Development) has been widely praised for his vocal work as Batman after the character stole the show in the well-received 2014 animation The LEGO Movie.

The popularity has since led to the Dark Knight receiving his own LEGO-themed spinoff entitled The LEGO Batman Movie.

A hilarious trailer for the upcoming animation was released at Comic-Con last night.

Directed by Chris McKay (Robot Chicken), the story sees Batman discover that he has adopted a son named Robin who struggles to contain his excitement about living in the Batcave. The pair soon find themselves having to team up in order to stop the Joker from wrecking havoc.

The role of Robin is voiced by Michael Cera (Superbad, This is the End), who played Arnett’s nephew George Michael Bluth in the acclaimed family sitcom Arrested Development (2003-2013).

The rest of the vocal cast also consists of Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter series, Spectre) as Alfred Pennyworth, Zack Galifianakis (The Hangover trilogy, The Muppets) as the Joker, Rosario Dawnson (Sin City, Daredevil) as Barbara Gordon / Batgirl and Mariah Carey (Precious, The Butler) as Mayor Marion Grange.

The LEGO Batman Movie will be released in cinemas on February 10th 2017.
