Jude Law and Rooney Mara deal with medical drugs in official trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects

Having told the media that this will be his final film, director Steven Soderbergh is hoping to go out on a high in the industry as he uses the subject matter of his greatest film as the theme for his on-screen swansong which has just unveiled a new trailer.

The medical thriller Side Effects stars Oscar-nominee Jude Law (The Talented Mr Ripley, Sherlock Holmes) as Dr. Jonathan Banks who finds himself in trouble with authorities when he is accused of giving experimental prescription drugs to female patient Rooney Mara (Oscar-nominated actress of The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

There is also able support in the film from Oscar-winner Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Mask of Zorro, Chicago) and Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street, Magic Mike)

Soderbergh (Erin Brockovich, Savages) is at least getting the chance to reunite with two of the actors from his previous films as part of his farewell project; Law who he worked with in Contagion (2010) and Zeta-Jones who appeared in his drugs-related drama Traffic (2000).

The film will be released in the US next week before arriving in the UK on March 15th.
