Kick-Ass fans will be pleased to know that Jim Carrey has joined Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall. “Reaaaaaaaaaaly?” Yes, the funny-man has been officially confirmed to star in the follow-up to 2010’s comic-book/comedy hit.

Carrey who has also starred in other well-known comedies like Dumb and Dumber (1994) and Liar Liar (1997) as well as playing the super-villain The Riddler in Batman Forever (1995) was linked with the role of Colonel Stars for a while but Deadline has now revealed that he has signed on the dotted line.

His character, (the Colonel) is a member of the crime-fighting team Justice Forever that is introduced in Mark Millar and John Romita Jr’s follow-up comic book series.

The sequel is now being directed by Jeff Wadlow (replacing original director Matthew Vaughan) with original stars Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse all returning.

The film will be released in the UK on July 19th 2013.
