Henry Cavill dons the red cape as Superman in official trailer for Man of Steel

With just two months to go until its release, the highly-anticipated superhero blockbuster Man of Steel is continuing to get audiences pumped up after its third trailer was released early last night.

This preview is more chronological as it begins with a glimpse of Krypton being destroyed which forces its leader Jor-El (Russell Crowe) to send his newborn son to Earth.

Named as Clark Kent by his human parents Jonathan (Kevin Costner) and Martha (Diane Lane), the shy youngster tries to hide his powers but ends up using them to save people. But when he grows up to become a newspaper journalist (now played by Henry Cavill), he is forced to confront his heritage when Earth is attacked by his father’s nemesis General Zod (Michael Shannon).

More footage is shown in this trailer of Crowe and Shannon as their respective characters while Amy Adams features more in her role as Lois Lane, Kent’s love interest.

The film is directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchman) and is produced by superhero reboot expert Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight trilogy).

It will open in cinemas on June 14th.
