Finding Nemo sequel to be entitled Finding Dory with plot and release date also revealed

Almost ten years have passed since clown-fish Marlin went on a desperate search to ‘find’ his kidnapped son Nemo in Pixar’s beloved 2003 classic Finding Nemo.

Though the concept for that storyline looked to have been done and dusted, Pixar decided to commission a sequel anyway which previously had the rather silly title Finding Nemo 2.

But today, further details of the Oscar-winning animation’s follow-up have emerged with voice actor Ellen DeGeneres (Dory) revealing on her chat show that the film will be officially called Finding Dory and that it is set for release on November 25th 2015.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time. I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

The original film’s director Andrew Stanton also gave a statement talking about the sequel which he will helm as he looks to move on from his recent live-action flop John Carter from last year.

“There is no Dory without Ellen. She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

Though the focus will be more on Dory for this new film, original voice actor Albert Brooks is set to reprise his vocal role as the heroic Marlin alongside DeGeneres with Nemo also likely to make an appearance. However the setting will be different as the attention switches from the Great Barrier Reef to the Californian coastline with a host of new characters popping up.

On reflection, it is becoming a worry that Pixar seem more keen on making sequels to their classic films rather than original stuff even if Toy Story 3 was a major triumph. But at least Nemo isn’t going missing again….
