It has been almost three years since teenage hero Percy Jackson found himself embroiled in a duel between Greek gods in the underwhelming fantasy adventure Percy Jackson & the Lightening Thief (2010). Now the mythical descendent is back for more action in the upcoming sequel Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters which has just released its first trailer.

Based on the book The Sea Monsters from Rick Riordan, the film sees The Perks of Being a Wallflower star Logan Lerman reprise his leading role from the previous film as he and his three friends Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario), Clarisse (Leven Rambin) and Tyson (Douglas Smith) go searching for the mythical Golden Fleece.

Rambin (The Hunger Games) and Smith (Big Love) are newcomers to the cast which also includes Nathan Fillon (Castle), Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones, Captain America: The First Avenger) and Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Little Britain).

Lerman and Daddario are also joined by previous co-stars Jake Abel (Luke) and Brandon T. Jackson (Grover Underwood) though clearly this film has toned down on its stars with original actors Pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean and Uma Thurman not involved.
