Avengers and Spiderman collaboration possible according to producer

This year so far has produced a lot of promise with the superhero films as The Avengers completely dominated the box-office while the upcoming Amazing Spiderman looks set to do well too. But according to producer Avi Arad, he believes that an appearance from the web-slinging superhero is likely for the next Avengers film.

Arad insisted that it would be great for Sony and Disney to allow the combination to happen if it was to be possible.

“Everything is possible. If something like that happens, it’s great for Disney, it’s great for Sony. If the right story comes in, we are now working on Venom first. It’s our first out. So our thinking is in the right direction. Avengers to me was an expected success so I never looked at it because Avengers was successful.”

A Venom film was always likely to occur given the wastage of the character in 2007’s Spiderman 3. However it would be important to the Marvel series if Spidey was to make an appearance in any of the Avengers films. This would only add to the quality that this franchise has developed in the last few years particularly with its audiences.

In the meantime we shall have to wait and judge Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Spidey in The Amazing Spiderman first with the film due out in a couple of weeks.
