Renée Zellweger’s Bridget Jones is forced to adjust to life as a widow in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy trailer

The official trailer for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy has been unveiled.

Slated as the fourth and final film of the beloved romcom franchise, the upcoming sequel is sure to bring some laughs and tears to devoted fans as Renée Zellweger makes a farewell appearance as the treasured title character.

Directed by Michael Morris (Better Call Saul, To Leslie), the plot sees Bridget Jones juggle between raising her two children alone and finding love again after the tragic passing of her husband Mark Darcy. However, the prospect of romance then arises when she develops feelings for both her children’s teacher, and a handsome young rogue.

As revealed in the trailer, Colin Firth will appear in flashbacks as the ill-fated Mark though fans can look forward to the return of other familiar faces from the Bridget Jones universe including Hugh Grant (as Daniel Cleaver), Jim Broadbent (as Bridget’s Dad), Gemma Jones (as Bridget’s Mum), Emma Thompson (as Dr. Rawlings), Sarah Solemani (as Miranda), Sally Phillips (as Shazzer), James Callis (as Tom), Celia Imrie (as Una), Joanna Scanlan (as Cathy), and Shirley Henderson (as Jude).

Additionally, BAFTA winner Chiwetel Ejiofor (Love, Actually, 12 Years a Slave) and Leo Woodall (The White Lotus, One Day) go head-to-head as Bridget’s new prospective lovers while the other cast newcomers include Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers, Confessions of a Shopaholic) Leila Farzad (I Hate Suzie, The Marvels), Nico Parker (Dumbo, The Last of Us), and Josette Simon (Blake’s 7, Wonder Woman).

The Bridget Jones story was first conceived as a novel series by author Helen Fielding before making the jump to the big-screen via Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001), Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004) and Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016).

Rather fittingly, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will arrive in UK cinemas on 14 February 2025, a.k.a. Valentine’s Day!
