Having emerged as one of this year’s unlikely box-office hits, the prehistoric animation The Croods is officially gaining a sequel.
The news was confirmed by writer/directors Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco via Coming Soon. They also revealed that the cast from the original film would be returning as well.
“There’s not much to talk about yet. We’ve got a big lump of clay and we’re forming it as we speak.”
The pair also spoke about the prospect of more strange animals featuring in the sequel.
“There will be lots of good creatures. We’ve got creatures that never got into the first movie. We’re going to take a very, very close look at those.”
Original voice actors Nicolas Cage (Grug), Emma Stone (Eep), Ryan Reynolds (Guy), Catherine Keener (Ugga), Cloris Leachman (Gran) and Clark Duke (Thunk) are all set to reprise their roles.
No news has been revealed about plot or release date as of yet.
