Paul Rudd is miniature superhero Ant-Man in official trailer for Marvel’s Ant-Man

A few years ago, nobody could have predicted that Paul Rudd would end up playing a leading Marvel superhero. Mind you, they said the same thing about the likes of Robert Downey Jr and Chris Pratt!

But the Anchorman and This is 40 star is set for the biggest role of his career so far as he plays former criminal-turned-superhero Scott Lang in the upcoming Marvel flick Ant-Man.

Having released a couple of teaser previews in recent months, a full-length trailer for the film has now premiered online.

Directed by filmmaker Peyton Reed (The Break-Up, Yes Man), the plot sees Lang teaming up with his mentor Hank Pym as they bid to stop Pym’s former student from threatening the future of mankind. Through the use of scientific technology, Lang is transformed into a mini-superhero known as Ant-Man who has the ability to show superhuman strength despite his tiny size.

Oscar-winner Michael Douglas (Wall Street, Falling Down) plays Pym with additional acting support coming from Corey Stoll (Midnight in Paris, House of Cards), Evangeline Lilly (Lost, The Hobbit trilogy), Bobby Cannavale (The Station Agent, Boardwalk Empire), Michael Pena (End of Watch, Fury) and Judy Greer (Carrie, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).

The film has endured various problems during production after original director Edgar Wright (Cornetto trilogy) dropped out of making it.

Part of the expanding Marvel universe, Ant-Man will be released in cinemas on July 17th.
