Game Change and Homeland lead Golden Globe TV nominations

Before the film nominations were announced, the Golden Globes earlier unveiled their nods for the biggest TV shows around.

Political biopic Game Change picked up five nominations including Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made For Television as well as acting mentions for Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson, Sarah Paulson and Ed Harris. Not too far behind was Homeland with four nominations including Best Television Series and recognition for its stars Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin.

The popular US sitcom Modern Family, Hitchcock biopic The Girl and British period drama-series Downton Abbey each picked up three nominations with Toby Jones, Sienna Miller, Michelle Dockery and Maggie Smith doing well for the Brits in the acting department.

The BBC drama The Hour also made it onto the Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made For Television shortlist, while Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch was named in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television list.

The Big Bang Theory, Girls, Hatfields & McCoys, New Girl, 30 Rock, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad and The Newsroom (the latter three all welcoming nominees!) were among the other shows recognised in the awards.
