Several months after his tragic death, the influential Steve Jobs is having his life story adapted to the big screen by the acclaimed writer Aaron Sorkin.

The film, which will be simply entitled Steve Jobs, is being adapted from his successful biography which was written by Walter Isaacson a week after the Apple co-founder’s death. Sony Pictures announced the news last night with co-chairman Amy Pascal issuing the following statement.

“Steve Jobs’s story is unique: he was one of the most revolutionary and influential men not just of our time but of all time. There is no writer working in Hollywood today who is more capable of capturing such an extraordinary life for the screen than Aaron Sorkin. In his hands, we’re confident that the film will be everything that Jobs himself was: captivating, entertaining, and polarizing.”

Sorkin, who adapted the likes of A Few Good Men, Moneyball and his Oscar-winning script for The Social Network will collaborate once again with Scott Rudin. Sorkin had revealed that he was approached by Sony to be involved with the project after admitting that Jobs had inspired him and his young daughter.

While the biopic is still in the production stage, there is in fact another film about Jobs being made which strangely stars Ashton Kutcher (Two and a Half Men) as the computer genius. That particular film is entitled Jobs: Get Inspired.

With an influential writer like Sorkin on board, there is no doubt that this biopic of Steve Jobs will be more intriguing to watch. His adaptations are always crisp and effective and if Sony can get a solid actor to play Jobs, then it could be brilliant.
