Matt Damon’s Odysseus embarks on a perilous journey home in new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

A grand new trailer has been unveiled for The Odyssey.

The upcoming fantasy epic is the latest cinematic offering from Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight trilogy, Oppenheimer) and brings together another majestic all-star cast fit for the gods.

Based on the ancient Greek epic poem Odyssey attributed to Homer, the story follows Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, and chronicles his long and perilous journey home following the Trojan War, as he attempts to reunite with his wife Penelope.

Hollywood favourite Matt Damon (Bourne trilogy, The Departed) portrays the central figure of the story opposite Tom Holland (Spider-Man series, Cherry) as Odysseus’s son Telemachus, and Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables, Interstellar) as Penelope.

Additionally, the rest of the star-studded ensemble includes Robert Pattinson (Tenet, The Batman), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave, Black Panther series), Zendaya (Euphoria, Challengers), Jon Bernthal (The Wolf of Wall Street, The Punisher), Benny Safdie (Good Time, Oppenheimer), John Leguizamo (Carlito’s Way, John Wick), Himesh Patel (Yesterday, Station Eleven), Mia Goth (Pearl, Frankenstein), Elliott Page (Juno, Inception) and Charlize Theron (Monster, Bombshell).

Billed as one of the biggest films of this summer, The Odyssey will be released in the UK on 17 July.
