Marvel fans, the X-Men are back!

After Marvel Studios have officially unveiled a host of new cast members for the much-anticipated X-Men reboot including Sadie Sink and Adam Driver.

The group were introduced at Disney’s D23 fan event last night with Sink finally confirming her role as Jean Grey following her appearance in the recent Marvel blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The Stranger Things starlet told the crowd how wonderful it was to be there and spoke of her excitement about getting to “talk about the character after months of speculation”.

For the rest of the mutant ensemble, two-time Oscar nominee Driver (Star Wars series, Marriage Story) will play the villainous Nathaniel Milbury and his alter-ego Mr. Sinister while Christopher Abbott (Kraven the Hunter, Wolf Man) steps into the daunting shoes of X-Men founder Professor Charles Xavier in a role made famous by Sir Patrick Stewart.

Meanwhile, Australian actress Samara Weaving (Ready or Not, Scream VI) has been cast as the telepathic Emma Frost while British star Kit Connor (Heartstopper, The Long Walk) will play Cyclops.

After a stunning breakthrough turn as Nikki Freeman in the horror sensation Obsession, Inde Navarrette tackles the role of Rogue, with Broadway performer Maya Boyd making her film debut as fan-favourite Storm.

This news will be a satisfying one to fans who have spent years praying for the X-Men to feature in the MCU after Disney acquired the rights to the franchise that were once held by 20th Century Fox.

During that period, Fox were involved in multiple X-Men films that performed well at the box-office, though the 2019 outing X-Men: Dark Phoenix effectively killed the franchise after underperforming with critics and audiences.

In the meantime, the new film is scheduled for release in cinemas in May 2028, with Jake Schreier (Beef, Thunderbolts*) onboard as director.
