The last decade has been rewarding for Emily Blunt with the British actress set to tackle her grittiest role yet.
The Golden-Globe winning star of The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Edge of Tomorrow (2014) and Into the Woods (2014) has teamed up with the emerging director Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Enemy) to lead the upcoming crime-thriller Sicario.
The film’s official trailer was released online last night.
The plot sees Blunt’s FBI agent Kate Macer being recruited by a government task force official to help escort two rangers across the border to Mexico in order to bring down a drug lord. However things don’t go to plan which leaves Kate facing a battle to survive while also questioning her own beliefs.
Oscar-winner Benicio Del Toro (The Usual Suspects, Traffic), who previously co-starred with Blunt in the fantasy horror The Wolfman (2010), is amongst the supporting cast which also includes Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Guardians of the Galaxy), Victor Garber (Titanic, Argo) and Jon Bernthal (The Wolf of Wall Street, Fury).
The film also sees Villeneuve collaborate with the great cinematographer Roger Deakins who worked on the director’s brilliant 2013 thriller Prisoners.
Sicario will be released in the UK on September 25th.
