Eccentric billionaire Tom Cruise embarks on a frantic mission to prevent a nuclear war in Digger trailer

A wacky trailer has premiered for Digger.

The absurdist comedy sees Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise tackle his most ambitious role to date in the latest big-screen offering from two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman, The Revenant).

The story follows an eccentric oil baron who embarks on a frantic mission to prove that he is humanity’s saviour when an ecological disaster threatens to spark a nuclear war.

Cruise is joined in the film by an admirable supporting cast which includes Jesse Plemons (The Power of the Dog, Bugonia), Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall, Project Hail Mary), Riz Ahmed (The Night Of, Sound of Metal), Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me, Babygirl), Emma D’Arcy (Mothering Sunday, House of the Dragon), Burn Gorman (Game of Thrones, Pacific Rim: Uprising), Robert John Burke (RoboCop 3, Rescue Me), Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man, Call Me by Your Name), and John Goodman (The Big Lebowski, Argo).

Touted as a potential awards vehicle for Cruise, Digger will be released in the UK on 2 October.
