DiCaprio and Pitt take centre stage in official trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

For many historians, this coming August marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Manson Murders, an event that shocked Hollywood and the world.

In what may seem like inappropriate timing, a film about the killings has been made by renowned filmmaker Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained) with a number of major film stars involved in the project.

Amongst them includes two of Tarantino’s former leading men in Oscar-winner Leonardo DiCaprio (Django Unchained, The Revenant) and Brad Pitt (Inglorious Basterds, Moneyball) who headline the film.

Entitled Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the real-life drama has unveiled a new full-length trailer which features more extravagant editing and witty dialogue from one of the great modern filmmakers.

The plot centres on Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), a faded television actor who tries to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood’s Golden Age in 1969. Accompanied by his stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt), the pair decide to seek help from the beautiful actress Sharon Tate unaware that fate is about to intervene.

Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street, I, Tonya) tackles the tragic role of Tate with the rest of the talented ensemble including Kurt Russell (Big Trouble in Little China, The Hateful Eight), Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood, Justified), Dakota Fanning (Twilight series, The Alienist), the late Luke Perry (Beverly Hills, 90210, Riverdale), Margaret Qualley (The Nice Guys, The Leftovers) and Oscar-winning legend Al Pacino (The Godfather trilogy, Scarface, Scent of a Woman).

Other notable names involved include Damian Lewis (Homeland, Billions), Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild, Milk), Scoot McNairy (12 Years a Slave, True Detective), Lena Dunham (This is 40, Girls), Clifton Collins Jr. (Star Trek, Westworld), Damon Herriman (Justified, Quarry), Mike Moh (Empire, Inhumans), Rumer Willis (Hostage, Empire), Sydney Sweeney (The Handmaid’s Tale, Sharp Objects), Maya Hawke (Stranger Things), Nicholas Hammond (The Sound of Music) and Bruce Dern (Nebraska, The Hateful Eight).

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be released in the UK on August 14.
