Defiant mother Jodie Whittaker seeks to expose a devastating waste scandal in Toxic Town trailer

An emotional trailer has premiered for Toxic Town.

The upcoming four-part drama dramatises the true events of one of Britain’s biggest scandals of the last fifteen years and bolsters a strong array of talent both on, and off-screen.

Written by Jack Thorne (National Treasure, Best Interests) and directed by Minkie Spiro (Better Call Saul, The Plot Against America), the story centres on a group of mothers who embarked on a battle for justice after discovering that dozens of babies were born with disabilities as a result of the Corby Toxic Waste scandal.

Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch, Doctor Who) and BAFTA winner Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education, Daddy Issues) headline an impressive ensemble cast that also includes BAFTA winner Robert Carlyle (The Full Monty, COBRA), Rory Kinnear (Southcliffe, The Diplomat), Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey, Me Before You), Claudia Jessie (Vanity Fair, Bridgerton), Joe Dempsie (Skins, Game of Thrones), Lauren Lyle (Outlander, Karen Pirie), Michael Socha (This is England series, D.I. Ray), Karla Crome (Misfits, Am I Being Unreasonable?), Ben Batt (Van der Valk, Domina), Stephen McMillan (Outlaw King, Boiling Point), Matthew Durkan (Wedding Season, Outlander), Toby Eden (Masters of the Air, Shardlake) and newcomer Kobi Sadler.

In what is sure to be a powerful watch, Toxic Town will be available to stream on Netflix from 27 February.
