Sir Anthony Hopkins portrays British humanitarian Sir Nicholas Winton in One Life trailer

An official trailer has arrived for One Life.

Directed by James Hawes (Black Mirror, Slow Horses), the factual drama explores the life of humanitarian Sir Nicholas Winton, who was dubbed the “British Schindler”.

The plot focuses on how Sir Nicholas helped groups of Jewish children in German-occupied Czechoslovakia to hide and flee in 1938–39, just before the beginning of the war. As a result, his remarkable story later became the subject of an emotional television appearance on the BBC programme That’s Life in 1988.

Johnny Flynn (Beast, Emma.) portrays Sir Nicholas during the pre-World War II era while two-time Oscar-winning legend Sir Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs, The Father) plays him in his later years.

The rest of the film’s ensemble includes British thespians Helena Bonham Carter (Harry Potter series, The King’s Speech) and Sir Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes, The Crown) as well as Lena Olin (Chocolat, Hunters), Romola Garai (Atonement, The Crimson Petal and the White), Adrian Rawlins (Chernobyl, The Sixth Commandment), Samatha Spiro (Me Before You, Sex Education), Alex Sharp (The Trial of the Chicago 7, Living), Tom Glenister (Grantchester, Sherwood), Ziggy Heath (Harlots, Greatest Days), Tim Steed (Cruella, Breeders), and Marthe Keller (Marathon Man, Marie Antoinette).

One Life is scheduled for release in the UK on 1 January 2024.
