The official trailer for The Long Shadow has arrived.

The seven-part ITV mini-series depicts the true events of the hunt for serial-killer Peter Sutcliffe who was dubbed ‘The Yorkshire Ripper’ after murdering thirteen women and attempting to kill several more between 1975 and 1980.

Directed by BAFTA-winner Lewis Arnold (Time, Sherwood) and written by George Kay (Criminal: UK, Hijack), the series explores the desperate five-year hunt for Sutcliffe while sensitively focusing on the lives of the victims who crossed his path, and those of the officers at the heart of the police investigation.

BAFTA-winner Toby Jones (Detectorists, Marvellous) and David Morrissey (The Walking Dead, Sherwood) play leading investigators DCS Dennis Hoban and DCS George Oldfield respectively alongside Lee Ingleby (The A Word, Criminal: UK), Katherine Kelly (Coronation Street, Gentleman Jack), Daniel Mays (Line of Duty, Des) and Shaun Thomas (Emmerdale, Ali & Ava).
