Nicole Kidman portrays television legend Lucille Ball in new trailer for Being the Ricardos

For many fans of American television, Lucille Ball is highly regarded as one of the greatest personalities to ever grace the small-screen.

The multi-Emmy winning star of I Love Lucy (1951-57) and The Lucy Show (1962-68) is now the subject of a new factual drama that focuses on a significant week in her life.

Entitled Being the Ricardos, the film sees renowned Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge!, The Hours) tackle the lucrative role of Lucy with Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Trial of the Chicago 7) involved as director and writer.

Following the release of a teaser last month, a new trailer has officially landed.

The story takes place over the course of a week as we see Lucille and first husband Desi Arnz face a crisis that could jeopardise their careers and marriage.

Oscar-winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Skyfall) co-stars as Arnz alongside J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man trilogy, Whiplash), Nina Arianda (Goliath, Stan & Ollie), Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep), Ali Shawkat (Arrested Development, 20th Century Women), Jake Lacy (Carol, Fosse/Verdon), Clark Gregg (The Avengers, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Ronny Cox (Deliverance, Robocop).

Being the Ricardos is scheduled for release on Amazon Prime from 21 December.
