Newt teams up with a young Dumbledore to confront Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer

Back in 2015, J.K Rowling’s ‘Wizarding World’ was revisited in the hit fantasy prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which followed on from the phenomenal success of the Harry Potter series (2001-2011).

Those who saw the Oscar-winning film will remember its climax which saw Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) capture the infamous Dark wizard Gellert Grindelward.

The origin story is now being followed by an upcoming sequel entitled Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelward which changes location to Paris (and Hogwarts!) and also reintroduces us to one of the most beloved characters in the Harry Potter universe.

A glimpse of what to expect can be seen in the trailer below:

Directed again by Peter Yates, the plot sees Grindelward escape from the authorities as he gathers more followers to his cause which is to elevate wizards above all non-magical beings. Newt finds himself teaming up with Grindelward’s old friend Albus Dumbledore as the pair look to stop their nemesis from creating havoc in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world.

Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes, The Young Pope) is the main casting for the sequel as he takes on the role of the young Dumbledore alongside Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp who returns as the sinister Grindelward.

Alongside Eddie Redmayne and Depp, there are other original cast members back for the new film including Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) and Carmen Ejogo (Seraphina Picquery).

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelward will be released in the UK on November 16th.
