Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro team up again to tackle the cartel in Sicario: Day of the Soldado trailer

The next few months are looking great for Josh Brolin in what promises to be a strong 2018 for him.

The Oscar-nominated star of No Country for Old Men (2007) and Milk (2008) is tackling two massive comic-book franchises with his villainous roles as Thanos in Avengers: Infinty War and as Cable in the adult-themed Deadpool 2.

However he is also reprising his role as federal agent Matt Graver in Sicario: Day of the Soldado, which follows on from the events of the hit 2015 thriller Sicario.

The sequel’s official trailer can be seen below:

Directed this time by Stefano Sollima (Romanzo Criminale, Gomorrah), the plot sees Graver once again having to team up with assassin Alejandro Gillick as the pair continue their battle with the drug cartel across the US-Mexican border.

Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro is also back as Alejandro along with Jeffrey Donovan who reprises his role as Steve Forsing. Additionally the sequel welcomes newcomers Catherine Keener (Capote, Get Out), Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket, Stranger Things) and starlet Isabela Moner (100 Things to Do Before High School, Transformers: The Last Knight).

However there is no return for Emily Blunt as FBI agent Kate Mercer with writer Taylor Sheridan confirming that her character’s story arc was complete from the original film.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado will be released in the UK on June 29th 2018.
