Michael Fassbender to produce and star in Assassin’s Creed film

Michael Fassbender has had plenty of coverage and exposure in films recently (especially in the flesh!) but he continues to tackle big projects with his next one being the latest adaptation of a popular video game.

Variety has revealed that the Shame and Prometheus star has signed up to star in the Assassin’s Creed film which he will also produce.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet spoke about Fassbender’s involvement.

“Michael Fassbender was our first choice. Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”

The games’ storyline follows a bartender who learns that he is a descendant of famous assassins after being kidnapped by the Knights Templar. The action takes place during the Crusades and Renaissance. It has become a renowned hit around the world selling more than 30 million copies since 2007.

Looks like the Fass won’t be getting a well-deserved break anytime soon especially with his other upcoming projects including Steve McQueen’s Twelve Years a Slave and his return as Magneto in the X-Men: First Class sequel.
