Four years since his excellent sci-fi thriller District 9 (2009) was released, director Neill Blomkamp has been quietly going about his business as he prepares to unveil his latest production to the big-screen.

As with District 9, his new film Elysium is once again set in the world of sci-fi with the thriller-tag attached to it as the official trailer finally reaches the internet.

Set in the year 2159, a bald-headed Matt Damon (The Departed, The Bourne trilogy) plays Max, a man who battles to unite the rich and the poor who live separately on space stations and a poverty-stricken Earth respectively.

Two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster (Taxi Driver, The Silence of the Lambs), Blomkamp’s District 9 star Sharlto Copley and William Fitchner (Prison Break, The Dark Knight) are the main supporting actors in the upcoming big-budget film.

It will be released in UK cinemas on September 20th.
