The hunt for a new Oscar host is finally over.
Following months of ongoing speculation, it has been confirmed that television star Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the 89th Academy Awards in two and a half months time.
Kimmel is best known for his popular award-winning show Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel and has also hosted numerous other ceremonies, including this year’s Emmy Awards.
The 49-year-old will be following the footsteps of other television names who have hosted the ceremony including David Letterman, Jon Stewart and Ellen DeGeneres.
The Oscar race has already begun, with various contenders making their claim for the top prize, including the musical drama La La Land and indie dramas Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight.
The 89th Academy Awards will take place on 26 February 2017.
