Five high school students become the Power Rangers in Power Rangers trailer

With the likes of Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles receiving their own cinematic updates, another successful TV series is now the subject of its own big-screen reboot.

Saban’s superhero phenomenon Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is returning to the public eye as a new film which focuses on the origins of its five heroic characters.

Following the release of a teaser a couple of months ago, an official trailer for Power Rangers has now been unveiled.

Directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), the plot focuses on five ordinary high school students who are chosen by mystical mentor Zordon to become the Power Rangers in order to save their town Angel Grove from an alien threat.

The film features five rookie stars in the main roles with Dacre Montgomery (Safe Neighborhood) as Jason Lee Scott / Red Ranger, Naomi Scott (The 33, The Martian) as Kimberly Hart / Pink Ranger, RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, I’m Dying Up Here) as Billy Cranston / Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin (Monster Hunt, Marco Polo) as Zack Taylor / Blue Ranger and singer Becky G. (Empire) as Trini / Yellow Ranger.

Experienced support also comes from award-winning actor Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Trumbo) as Zordon, Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games series, Pitch Perfect trilogy) as the villainous Rita Repulsa and Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live, Trainwreck) who voices Alpha 5.

Power Rangers will be released in the UK on 24th March 2017.
