Emma Stone is reborn by an unorthodox scientist in Poor Things trailer

A wacky trailer has landed for Poor Things.

The fantastical comedy from renowned filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster, The Favourite) sees Oscar-winner Emma Stone (La La Land, Cruella) take centre stage in another mouthwatering role.

Based on the 1992 novel by Alasdair Gray, the plot focuses on a young Victorian woman (Stone) who is crudely resurrected by a scientist after she commits suicide. As a result, she decides to run off with a debauched lawyer and embark on an odyssey of self-discovery and sexual liberation.

Stone is joined in the film by Mark Ruffalo (Foxcatcher, Spotlight), Willem Dafoe (Platoon, The Florida Project), Ramy Youssef (Mr. Robot, Ramy), Jerrod Carmichael (Bad Neighbours, The Carmichael Show), Christopher Abbott (James White, Catch-22), Margaret Qualley (Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, Maid), Kathryn Hunter (The Tragedy of Macbeth, Andor) and Hanna Schygulla (The Marriage of Maria Braun, The Story of Piera).

Touted as one of the biggest films of this upcoming awards season, Poor Things will arrive in UK cinemas on 12 January 2024.
