David Cronenberg confirms Eastern Promises 2 won’t happen

Ages ago, it was reported that David Cronenberg would be making a sequel to his Oscar-nominated thriller Eastern Promises. However the director has now confirmed that it isn’t happening.

Speaking to The Playlist, the A History of Violence and Cosmopolis helmer revealed that the sequel has now been pulled by its studio Focus Features.

“It was supposed to be Eastern Promises 2. But that’s dead. We were supposed to start shooting Eastern Promises 2 in October. But it’s done… If you don’t like it talk to James Schamus at Focus. It was his decision.”

Rather disappointing for those who enjoyed the first film including myself though I’m sure female audiences will be even more gutted that they won’t get to see another naked fight scene involving lead actor Viggo Mortensen!
