A thrilling trailer has premiered for Twisters.

A reboot of the 1996 blockbuster Twister, the upcoming disaster flick promises to be just as tense and adrenaline-pumping as its predecessor.

Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), the plot centres on a former storm chaser, a social-media superstar and their crew as they find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.

BAFTA nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People, Where the Crawdads Sing) and Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone But You) lead the film’s cast alongside Anthony Ramos (In the Heights, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), David Corenswet (The Politician, Pearl), Brandon Perea (The OA, Nope), Sasha Lane (American Honey, Conversations with Friends), Daryl McCormack (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, Bad Sisters), Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Nik Dodani (Atypical, Dear Evan Hansen), Katy O’Brian (The Mandalorian, Love Lies Bleeding) and Golden Globe winner Maura Tierney (The Affair, Beautiful Boy).

The original Twister, which starred Helen Hunt and the late Bill Paxton, was a mega hit upon its release in 1996 and grossed almost $500 million worldwide.

Twisters will spin its way into UK cinemas on 19 July.
