Alright benders! Following last year’s successful transition from television to the big-screen with The Inbetweeners Movie, the popular quartet of Will, Simon, Jay and Neil are set to unpack their wellies once again for another cinematic adventure!

However there will be some division amongst fans of the hit series about today’s news in which creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley confirmed to the Radio Times that work is under way on a sequel to the 2011 smash hit. They revealed that a script is almost complete despite the initial reluctance for a second film to be made.

“Inbetweeners fans are more discerning and vocal than people give them credit for. The last thing any of us wants is a cheap cash-in. At the moment the script is at version 0.5, so we’re getting close… but we’re not there yet. Because the film was genuinely independent, there’s no studio breathing down our neck. It’s down to us to write a script that we think is worth everyone’s time.”

We can only hope that the sequel will be as entertaining and consistent as the original film which had brought a satisfying conclusion to the group’s story. Otherwise Morris and Beesley will end up looking like a right pair of numpties!
