Saoirse Ronan searches for her missing son in war-torn London in Blitz trailer

The official trailer for Blitz has premiered online.

The upcoming war drama is the latest big-screen effort by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave, Small Axe) and could make an impact during this season’s awards race.

Written and directed by McQueen, the story centres on a nine-year-old boy who is evacuated from London to the English countryside during World War II. However, he then sets out to reunite with his mother and grandfather, only to find himself in immense peril.

Multi-Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird, Little Women) and newcomer Elliot Heffernan lead the film’s ensemble alongside Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness, Scrapper), Benjamin Clementine (Dune), Kathy Burke (Nil by Mouth, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Stephen Graham (This is England, Boiling Point), Leigh Gill (Game of Thrones, Joker), Mica Ricketts (Here We Go, Best Interests), CJ Beckford (Sitting in Limbo, Riches), Alex Jennings (The Inbetweeners, Sally4ever), Joshua McGuire (Cheaters, Saltburn), Hayley Squires (I, Daniel Blake, Adult Material), Erin Kellyman (The Falcon and the Winter Solder, Willow), Sally Messham (Aftersun, The Hunt for Raoul Moat), and The Jam musician Paul Weller.

Blitz will be released theatrically in UK cinemas on 1 November, before arriving at Apple TV+ from 22 November.
