Following her diverse work on the psychological horror ‘mother!‘ (2017), Jennifer Lawrence is returning to kick-ass mode for her next feature film.

The Oscar-winning star of The Hunger Games series (2012-2015), Silver Linings Playbook (2012) and Passengers (2016) tackles a Russian accent and shows a lot of skin for her upcoming role in the spy thriller Red Sparrow.

J-Law reunites with her Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence on the film which has premiered a new trailer.

Adapted from the novel by Jason Matthews, the story follows Dominika Egorova (Lawrence), a Russian ballerina who is recruited by a Russian intelligence service where she is forced to use her body as a weapon. Her first mission sees her target a CIA agent but the pair find themselves engaging in a forbidden romance which could threaten security worldwide.

J-Law is joined in the cast by Joel Egerton (Warrior, Bright), Matthias Schoenaerts (Far from the Madding Crowd, The Danish Girl), Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds, RED), Joely Richardson (The Patriot, Nip/Tuck), Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones, Silence), Charlotte Rampling (45 Years, Assassin’s Creed) and Oscar winner Jeremy Irons (Reversal of Fortune, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice).

Red Sparrow will be released in the UK on March 2nd.
