For those of you who stayed for the post-credits scene of the superhero epic Avengers: Infinity War, you will have seen that Nick Fury sent a pager to a mysterious character whose insignia flashed up right at the end.
That particular individual is Captain Marvel who is actually the first Marvel superhero(ine) to become an Avenger way before Iron Man, Captain America and co. become involved years later.
The character is finally getting her own film simply entitled Captain Marvel with Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson (Room, Kong: Skull Island) taking on the lucrative role.
Following a lengthy wait, the film’s official trailer has finally premiered on Good Morning America.
Jointly directed by Anna Boden (The Affair, Billions) and Ryan Fleck (Half Nelson, In Treatment), the plot sees former U.S. Air Force pilot-turned-elite superhero Carol Danvers question her past and identity as she returns to Earth in the 1990s to prevent an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds.
Marvel veterans Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson) both appear in the film with CGI used to make them look younger as part of the 1990s setting. There are also returns for two characters from Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) as Lee Pace (Ronan) and Djimon Hounsou (Korath) reprise their roles.
Additionally, there are other big names involved in the film including Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes, Hugo), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Ready Player One), Gemma Chan (Humans, Crazy Rich Asians), Robert Kazinksy (EastEnders, Warcraft) and Annette Bening (American Beauty, Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool).
Captain Marvel will be released in the UK on 8th March 2019, a couple of months before Avengers 4!
