With an Oscar finally under his belt, revolutionary filmmaker Spike Lee is hoping for more success with his next big-screen project.
The award-winning director and writer of Do the Right Thing (1989), Malcolm X (1992) and BlacKkKlasman (2018) is back with a new film which set for release on Netflix next month.
Entitled Da 5 Bloods, the 1970s-based war drama has unveiled an official trailer which is backed by the funky Chambers Brothers song “Time Has Come Today”.
The plot follows the story of four African-American war veterans who travel to Vietnam in order to search for the remains of their fallen squad leader and buried treasure.
Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther, 21 Bridges) is the high profile name amongst the cast which also includes Delroy Lindo (Malcolm X, Get Shorty), Jonathan Majors (Hostiles, The Last Black Man in San Franciso), Clarke Peters (The Wire, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Norm Lewis (Scandal, Mrs. America), Isiah Whitlock Jr. (The Wire, BlacKkKlasman), Mélanie Thierry (Babylon A.D., The Zero Theorem), Paul Walter Hauser (I, Tonya, Richard Jewell), Jasper Pääkkönen (Vikings, BlacKkKlasman) and Jean Reno (Leon: The Professional, Ronin).
Da 5 Bloods arrives on Netflix on 12 June.
