Young elephant Dumbo learns how to fly in emotional trailer for Tim Burton’s Dumbo

Disney’s current trend of adapting their animated classics into live-action films is showing no signs of stopping judging from current results.

Following the box-office successes of Cinderella (2015), The Jungle Book (2016) and Beauty and the Beast (2017), the studio have turned to visionary director Tim Burton (Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) to help recreate one of their oldest stories in Dumbo.

The new take on the emotional 1941 animation about a young elephant with large ears previously released a teaser trailer earlier this year. However, an extended preview has now premiered and can be viewed below.

The plot centres on a former circus star who is tasked with taking care of a baby elephant named Dumbo whose oversized ears make him the laughingstock of the struggling circus troupe. But when the man’s children discover that Dumbo can fly, the troupe decide to turn him into a star.

Colin Farrell (Saving Mr Banks, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) headlines the film alongside three of Burton’s former actors in Eva Green (Dark Shadows, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Perculiar Children), Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice, Batman) and Danny DeVito (Batman Returns, Big Fish).

The rest of the cast also includes newcomers Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins as well as Deobia Oparei (Oz, Lost), Sharon Rooney (My Mad Fat Diary), Roshan Seth (Gandhi, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom) and Oscar-winner Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine, Argo).

Disney fans will be hoping for better results from Burton following the underwhelming feedback he received for his work on the live-action adaptation of Alice in Wonderland (2010).

You will believe that an elephant CAN fly when Dumbo reaches UK cinemas on March 29th.
