Wrestling is a sport that has had mixed fortunes on the big-screen ranging from the great (The Wrestler, Foxcatcher) to the not-so-great (Nacho Libre, Walk Like a Panther).
However fans of the recently-retired WWE wrestler Saraya-Jade Bevis (a.k.a Paige) will be intrigued to know that a new film about her involvement in the sport has been made and includes a number of renowned actors.
Entitled Fighting with My Family, the light-hearted sports biopic has premiered its latest trailer which can be seen below.
Written and directed by award-winning British comedian Stephen Merchant (The Office, Extras, Hello Ladies), the film centres on a family of professional wrestlers who make a living performing at small venues around the country. However issues arise when their daughter Paige receives a contract to work with WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).
The role of Paige is being played by rising British actress Florence Pugh who is slowly building up a strong career so far with roles in Lady Macbeth (2017), Outlaw King and the BBC series The Little Drummer Girl.
Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Paul) and Lena Headey (300, Game of Thrones) portray her parents with Jack Lowden (A United Kingdom, Dunkirk) playing her brother.
Additionally, former wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Rampage) features in the film along with Vince Vaughn (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Hacksaw Ridge).
Fighting with My Family will be released in the UK on March 1st 2019 (coincidentally the day before my 30th birthday).
