Marion Cotillard is a paralysed whale trainer in Rust and Bone trailer

Following her disappointing role as Miranda Tate in Christopher Nolan’s superhero blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises, Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard is looking to bounce back into award contention with her upcoming French drama Rust & Bone which has just unveiled its latest trailer.

The film is written and directed by Jacques Audiard who also made the critically-acclaimed thriller A Prophet back in 2010.

The graceful Cotillard (who won Best Actress back in 2008 for her stunning performance as Edif Piaf in La Vie En Rose) stars as a killer whale trainer whose life is shattered when she suffers a horrific accident at work.

She then embarks on a relationship with a single father played by Matthias Schoenarts (Bullhead) who is emotionally damaged as he tries to bond with his son and resorts to doing violent jobs in order to make a living.

The film was shown at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year with Cotillard receiving early buzz for her performance.

It will be released in UK cinemas on 2nd November.
