Back in 2010, Toy Story 3 was raved by critics and audiences but was almost overshadowed that year by Dreamwork’s charming animation How to Train Your Dragon which also showed heart at the core of its story.

Fans of that film will be pleased to know that a sequel to the dragon-themed adventure has been made for 2014 with a teaser trailer being released earlier today.

According to the film’s official synopsis, the story (set five years after the original) sees young hero Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and his dragon companion Toothless embark on various journeys through the sky and exploring new worlds. However one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave which is occupied by new dragons as well as the mysterious Dragon rider. The pair must help to protect the cave when enemies threaten to destroy it.

Gerard Butler (300, PS I Love You), Kristen Wiig (Paul, Bridesmaids), Jonah Hill (Superbad, Moneyball), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad, Kick-Ass) all reprise their voice work from the original film with Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington being a new cast addition as the Dragon Prince.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 will open in cinemas in July 2014.
