Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to host 2013 Golden Globes

Move over Ricky Gervais, here come the girls! For the last three years, Gervais (creator and star of The Office and Extras) has shocked and appalled audiences with his controversial jokes about the stars of Hollywood during his hosting duties of the Golden Globes. That run has finally come to an end….

It was announced earlier today by NBC that US comedians Tina Fey AND Amy Poehler will host the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony which take place on January 13th 2013.

NBC President Paul Telegdy issued a statement about the news.

“Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup. Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on Saturday Night Live to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama.”

The two female entertainers have worked well together in recent years as Telegdy said with both currently involved in popular American shows. Fey is about to finish her time on the award-winning sitcom 30 Rock while Poehler is currently starring in another well-renowned series, Parks and Recreation.

Though they probably won’t be as edgy as Gervais was, they should a lot of wit to the show and given the ceremony’s anniversary, it should be memorable!
